SOR Staff Writer Gregg Snyder breaks down the efforts put forth by former Scarlet Knights currently making a living in the National Football League. Let's jump right into it.
Knight of the Week
The Tennessee Titans were dominated by the Houston Texans on Sunday, falling by a score of 41-7. Defensive back Jason McCourty had a big day despite the loss. McCourty recorded his third double-digit tackle performance on the season. He finished the game with 12 total tackles, 8 of which were solo. Jason McCourty is our Knight of the Week.
The Rest
Our thoughts go out to yet another former Rutgers star that has gone down with an injury this season. Tampa Bay Buccaneers lineman Jeremy Zuttah left the game on Sunday with a knee injury. Zuttah had started at center this week in Tampa Bay’s 24-18 loss to the Chicago Bears in London. An MRI has been scheduled.
George Johnson did play for Tampa Bay but failed to record any stats.
Rookie defensive back Joe Lefeged returned one kick for 18 yards in the Indianapolis Colts 62-7 loss to the New Orleans Saints. Lefeged also recorded five tackles on defense for the Colts who remain winless on the season.
Jamaal Westerman was held without any stats this week but the New York Jets got a big 27-21 come from behind win over the San Diego Chargers.
Fullback Ryan D’Imperio played on special teams for the Minnesota Vikings this week. He was also the intended target of one incomplete pass. Minnesota lost to the Green Bay Packers, 33-27.
Gary Gibson and the St. Louis Rams fell to the Dallas Cowboys by a score of 34-7. The veteran defensive lineman did record a sack in the loss.
On Monday Night Football, Ray Rice and the Baltimore Ravens had a disappointing performance. The Baltimore offense did not gain a first down until the third quarter. Rice finished with just 25 yards on eight carries. He also caught five passes for 35 yards. Rice fumbled in the first quarter. The Ravens lost 12-7.
Courtney Greene was inactive for Jacksonville.
Defensive back Joe Porter was released by the Oakland Raiders.
Anthony Davis (San Francisco), Devin McCourty (New England), Clark Harris and Brian Leonard (Cincinnati) were on their bye week.
Kevin Haslam (Jaguars), Gary Brackett, Eric Foster (Colts) and Kenny Britt (Titans) are on injured reserve while Howard Barbieri (Texans), Kevin Brock (Raiders), Alex Silvestro (Patriots), and Brandon Bing (Bills) are being used on practice squads.
