In the 2016 and 2017 recruiting classes, Rutgers added a total of two interior defensive linemen. With interior defensive linemen being a critical contributor to success in the Big Ten, Rutgers will look to stack the position in the 2018 class. This need has the Rutgers staff relentlessly pursuing some of the best defensive linemen in the country.  One of the prospects high on the staff’s wish list is Jordan Redmond.

Redmond's production and skillset has attracted the attention of many schools. As a result, Rutgers is not Redmond's only suitor. After the May evaluation period, his list could balloon to over 30 offers. Although he likes the Scarlet Knights, there is a school which holds a special place in his heart.

“I have 18 offers as of now from Rutgers, Virginia Tech, Minnesota, Kentucky, Syracuse, Wake Forest, USF, UCF, Navy, FAU, Charlotte, App state and Akron. Rutgers is a good school academically and in athletics. My favorite school as a kid was FSU and it would mean a lot to get an offer from them”, stated Redmond.

Although Redmond has been making a name for himself as on the football field, he has taken his skills to the wrestling mat this year.

For the Scarlet Knights to land Redmond's services, it will be important for them to build a strong relationship with him and his support group. Although Rutgers has only recently begun building a relationship with Redmond, there should be enough time to solidify the relationship before Redmond makes his final decision.

"I am being recruited for defensive line and just started talking to Coach Burnham. I plan to make a decision signing day. Distance from family, academic success and the personality with my recruiting coach and position coach will be key"
