College: Kitchen is a starter at the safety position for the Scarlet Knights. He has come back from multiple knee injuries to earn his spot at the top of the depth charts.

High School: Kitchen was a First-Team Associated Press All-State pick and was also selected to play in the Sunshine Classic All-Start Contest. He became a top Prep player at Hargrave Military Academy before transfering to Rutgers.
